Go figure

I think it is finally going to work. I changed some template, colours and other bits so I was able to put in to late posts.
This was South Cowichan Market on a rainy day I will be there again on July 29th from 10-3 check it out.

Strange day

Not sure what was more strange today the lack of interest by the customers at marigold ie not 1 person came by to look or the hours I spent trying to get my blog done sheesh! The good news I am do pleased with all the pieces I had and the sun was warm.

More photos of the new things I had for todays market.
So I am not having a good time with this site. I have the blogger app on my I phone and the pictures from my computer don.t show up so I deleted the crazy letters and guess what the whole post disappeared ot  I am going to repost the pictures of the 2 silk bags. Hopefully I wont disppear completely!!!!!!
So this is so cute in blue and turquoise silk fusion, and silk patches some satin stitch adds interestin detail
This orange bag is fun and surprisingly orange goes with many other colors. I llove the mix of pink and orange. Its a great size too.
Both of these bags were shipped to Glitz Gallery in Winnipeg.

This bag is more for winter but it is very unique wool felted with "funky fibers" for great texture.

May 17, 2012

so my last blog was in March, what happened to April!! I am siting in the Winnipeg airport waiting for my flight back to Victoria. While in Winipeg i visited Glitz Gallery on Academy road to se my bags. A few have sold moatly the larger ones and the  right colours. Imam headed home to make some more as my output has beensmalli
So here is my quetion/thought.:
likely wool not te best choice for summer even the small ones
larger sizes seem to be more popular
smaller migt make a nice grad gift for a high school or younger student

any ideas or thought smuch appreciated, time to board more as the process unfolds over the weekend and pictures too!

Ahh studio time it has been awhile

So Mexican vacation over with and a very full week back at work and I have some time to be creative. I did finish 3 bags in the last week all knit and felted, 2 of them in Mexico. I will post some pictures later. I also tried out a new fusion bag pattern and took the bag out to the symphony with me. Love the long strap so I could put it across my chest. Makes having that drink at intermission so easy!! Pictures of that to follow too.
Several of my bags are for sale at Glitz Gallery in Winnipeg so if you in the area go by and check it out.
I was to teach a silk fusion class tomorrow but only 1 person signed up so it was cancelled. Ah well I will have time to line those 3 new bags!!!!
Monday I had a delightful 2 hours with the daughter of one of my colleagues from work. She is 13 and is doing an art project to interview and artist and then to produce a piece in the artists medium. It was fun and she was happy with what she took home.
Maybe \i need to do some teaching at my own home. Maybe kids might be interested in this process. I will need to think on that .
Well time to upload some pictures. Let me know what you think.
Mmm eyes closed but isn't the bag cute!!!!!!

So this is a fuzzy cuddly bag like a caterpillar it has bit of blue and yellow it still needs lining a some buttons but stay tuned it will be so fun when done It will sell for $60

So these are mid sze satchel bags again still need lining  and some buttons and magnet closures i am going to add crystalls to the pink and orange one. The sell for $40

This hot pink baby is great for evening or for a little girl who loves a bag!!

The 4 some mmm colour is very in this spring.

They arrived take 2

So the bags have arrived at the Glitz Gallery in Winnipeg. It is located on Academy road in River Heights. A great shop so if you live near stop in and check it out.
The first time i tried to post this was from my I phone and I couldn'do the body so here it is. I will be out of the studio for a week on vacation but when I come back there will be some cute new bags I have done a couple of new ones small but so cute. I will be knitting on my vacation so there really will be some new bags.

March 04, 2012

Ah and I have the bags ready to ship!!!

Well at least they are completed still have to tag them with content etc. They are headed to Winnipeg to Glitz Gallery on Academy Road. This is my 1st foray into having my bags in a shop. I'm excited + a bit nervous. Will see what happens.

So I have finished 3 felted satchel/messenger bags. It is interesting to me that the purple bag and the orange bag had the same number of stitches but the purple bag has an added boucle fiber for interest. and it felted much bigger than the orange one.

Then there is the little blue on already has an owner but it is so cute!!!!!!
Then I finished 2 smaller fusion bags one is with veleveteen and the other with faux suede. they are both lined with silk lining. The little pins attached are sculpted fusion.
Now I am going to look at making some bowls from fusion, I have done this before and they are really cool. Stay tuned for more fiber fun.

Oh a slow weekend in the studio

The end of Saturday and not much done. Mainly because we changed our internet service provider and I have been making all of the email changes plus learning how the new PVR works. Fun but you may note that the email is missing from the contact section. Not sure why but while I try to fix it here is my new email sjromphf@telus.net. Now I am going to work on finishing another of the mid sized felted satchel bags and paint some letters for a friend who has a new baby. Tomorrow it will be small fusion bags...... Can I be retired!!!!!
Cheers.

And pictures

So here are photos of the knitted felted bag, before felting and felted.
 Before felting
After felting

Then 5 cards the focal piece on each card are silk fusion.

Now it is super bowl and the snacks are great so will save cutting out more bags for later in the week. Cheers

How do 3 days go so fast!!

Well Sunday already the sunny weather had me out in the garden so not as much studio time. I did spend time yesterday using up small fusion pieces to create thank you cards. No pics yet but will post some later today.

So an interesting story from Friday night. We have a favourite restaurant in town Blighys Bistro. Have gone there for the 16 years it has been in operation. Sometime in Nov when we there one of favorite servers A. loved the felted bag I had with me. She ordered one in autumn colours no rush!! So on Friday went for dinner and I brought the bag. R. owner of the restaurant loved it so A. said look you have this one and Susan can make me another. I agreed so A. now wants one in blue colours so I have started a lovely shade of turquoise bag for her. Great way to market my work is to take it with me out on the town.
Well back to the cards and cutting out some bag pieces today. Its super bowl so will get some serious knitting done too.
Pictures to be posted later today.

New bags and photos

So here is the bag in progress i was trying to figure out the best way to add an embellishment and here is the finished product I am quite pleased with it; It is a lovely bag with a silk lining and a pocket. The price is $45. the flap is made from hand painted cotton canvas. The embellishment on the front is a pin made by crocheting wire and adding beads. I love to do these pieces as the wire comes  in many colours and the possiblities are endless

So the first of my regular blogs

So today is the first day I have been in my studio for 2 weeks. I was away with my mom who is recovering from surgery and a side trip to Montreal to visti my daughter and son in law.
Today I needed to clean my studio so tomorrow I can make some bags!! Even washed the floor!!
I did knit today a fun satchel bag for a friend, it is in autumn colours and I will post pictures when it is done. I have a cool autumn mix mohair for the flap it will look great.
I also went today to the new Knotty by Nature store in Fairfield to organize a silk fusion class. I teach fusion there every couple of months and love it. The new store is great. The class is on March 4th.
I was at my art group last night a great group of woman who are fiber artist. Our group has been working on quilted pieces using many techniques, it is inspiring and I will spend some time on my pieces this weekend. They have a french theme to reflect my trip to France last year. I love that fiber can be a medium for memories as well as fashion.
Well more tomorrow, with pics of what I am working on.
Cheers from fiber frolics

New Jewelery

So, I've been working with some new jewelry ideas, including crocheted wire and silk fusion chokers! Takes the words "fun with fabric" to a whole new level...I'm posting some photos below so you can check out some of the options available. Keep in mind, these can be made to your specifications regarding colour, general size, chain choice and length. I'm in Montreal at the moment, on the hunt for some amazing new chains, beads and fabrics to create more diverse pieces, so stay tuned!
