I started making bags in the fall of 2010 as a way to balance my life. My day job is as a registered nurse and while I love nursing, the creative process of working with these bags and other art balances the work of nursing. I use 100% wool, and silk as well as what I like to call "funny fibers" like polyester and nylon, which create interesting textures. Most of my bags are lined with silk or polyester to create a great finish and allow for pockets.

So the first of my regular blogs
So today is the first day I have been in my studio for 2 weeks. I was away with my mom who is recovering from surgery and a side trip to Montreal to visti my daughter and son in law.
Today I needed to clean my studio so tomorrow I can make some bags!! Even washed the floor!!
I did knit today a fun satchel bag for a friend, it is in autumn colours and I will post pictures when it is done. I have a cool autumn mix mohair for the flap it will look great.
I also went today to the new Knotty by Nature store in Fairfield to organize a silk fusion class. I teach fusion there every couple of months and love it. The new store is great. The class is on March 4th.
I was at my art group last night a great group of woman who are fiber artist. Our group has been working on quilted pieces using many techniques, it is inspiring and I will spend some time on my pieces this weekend. They have a french theme to reflect my trip to France last year. I love that fiber can be a medium for memories as well as fashion.
Well more tomorrow, with pics of what I am working on.
Cheers from fiber frolics

New Jewelery
So, I've been working with some new jewelry ideas, including crocheted wire and silk fusion chokers! Takes the words "fun with fabric" to a whole new level...I'm posting some photos below so you can check out some of the options available. Keep in mind, these can be made to your specifications regarding colour, general size, chain choice and length. I'm in Montreal at the moment, on the hunt for some amazing new chains, beads and fabrics to create more diverse pieces, so stay tuned!
